The Tampa Bay Lightning has found itself a new first-line sniper, signing unrestricted free agent left wing Alex Tanguay to a one-year contract.
RDS.ca first reported the signing, which is pending based on Tanguay passing a physical.
Financial terms are not yet known, however Tanguay's expected to make between $2 million and $3 million this coming season.
Sources tell TFP the Lightning and Minnesota Wild were the two clubs battling for Tanguay's services. The Wild also pitched a one-year deal worth around $2.5 million.
The 29-year-old spent the 2008-09 campaign with the Montreal Canadiens, registering 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 50 games.
In 659 career NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames and Habs, Tanguay has accumulated 193 goals and 387 assists for 580 points.
