Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier knows his name is floating around the trade mill, but he's doing his best to avoid all the chatter, the St. Petersburg Times reports.
It remains possible that the Lightning decide to trade Lecavalier this week during the NHL Entry Draft.
Lecavalier has a new 11-year, $85 million contract, which includes a no-movement clause, which kicks in July 1, and it has been widely reported that the Bolts might entertain the thought of dealing him this weekend.
There are a number of teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings, who are interested in acquiring Lecavalier. Whether a trade happens or not, the veteran superstar just wants to be kept in the loop.
"Of course, I'd like to know yes or no, but it's not like that, and that's fine, too," Lecavalier told the Times. "The most important thing is if something was going to happen, they would contact me. So as long as I haven't heard anything, there's nothing going on."
Lightning GM Brian Lawton told the paper he hasn't contacted Lecavalier or his agent, Kent Hughes, in "the past few days."
Lawton insists he isn't actively shopping Lecavalier, but he is fielding offers.
"Vinny has lived under a cloud of uncertainty since January, when these rumors first started erupting," Hughes told the Times. "Nobody within the organization has unequivocally told us that Vinny is not being traded."
