Boyle wants to stay, but TB asks to waive clause TheFourthPeriod.com
He's heard the rumors. He's heard the rumblings. Dan Boyle doesn't care. He wants to stay in Tampa.
However, TFP has now confirmed that the Lightning has asked to waive Boyle's no-trade clause.
Boyle told the Tampa Tribune's Erik Erlendsson this morning that he doesn't want to leave the Lightning.
"As I stand here today, and I'm out on my back porch, I want to be in Tampa," he said. "I don't have any intention of waving my no-trade clause as I stand here today. I don't plan on waiving it."
Boyle's name has been the topic of a number of rumors lately, including one involving him going to the Ottawa Senators.
"When I signed my contract, I did it because I wanted to stay in Tampa," he said. "I played in Florida, but I feel Tampa is really where I started my career. I can't ask for more than to want to play for the city and play for the jersey."
It's uncertain if Boyle is willing to waive his no-trade clause, however a source told TFP it's a possibility.
Meanwhile, Boyle added further confirmed to the Tribune, saying, "They have asked me to waive (the no-trade clause)."
