Lightning sign Niskala, Craig TheFourthPeriod.com
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Janne Niskala to a one-year contract and re-sign forward Ryan Craig to a two-year deal.
Niskala, 26, was acquired by Philadelphia last week from Nashville for forward Triston Grant and a seventh-round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The native of Vasteras, Sweden recorded 19 goals, 44 points and 81 penalty minutes in 80 regular season games for the Predators' AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, this past season.
Craig, 26, missed 72 games last season with back and knee injuries. He skated in seven games with one goal and two points.
He was drafted by the Lightning in the eighth-round, 255th overall, at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
