Source: Richards set to be traded TheFourthPeriod.com
The Tampa Bay Lightning could be on the verge of trading star center Brad Richards, a source told TFP late this afternoon.
Richards, 27, has a no-trade clause and would have to approve any trade the Lightning agrees upon.
A source, speaking on the basis of anonymity, confirmed that Lightning GM Jay Feaster has received "more than one offer for [Richards]" and that he is "seriously considering making a move."
Columbus, Vancouver, Dallas, Montreal, Chicago, Calgary and Edmonton have all expressed an interest in Richards.
According to TSN, the Blue Jackets, Stars and Canucks have all submitted an offer for Richards, who makes $7.8 million per year.
During TFP's video coverage of the 2008 NHL Trade Deadline on Friday, NHL Analysts and Todd Harvey, both former NHLers, discussed the prospect of Tampa dealing Richards, noting that Columbus and Vancouver were the frontrunners.
Richards and his agent, Pat Morris, are to meet with Feaster later today to discuss his options.
RDS is reporting that Richards has given the Lightning a list of eight teams in which he'd accept a move to.
