Berglund signs 5-year, $19.25 million extension

The St. Louis Blues have signed center Patrik Berglund to a five-year, $19.25 million contract extension.

Berglund's previous three-year deal was set to expire at the end of the season, and he was being coveted by numerous teams as the trade deadline approaches.

His deal also includes a limited no-trade clause.

Berglund, 28, has registered 17 goals and seven assists for 24 points in 60 games with the Blues so far this season.

The Vasteras, Sweden-native is one of just 16 players to appear in at least nine seasons with the Blues. He has accumulated 286 points, including 145 goals and 141 assists, in 615 regular season games.

Berglund was originally drafted 25th overall by the Blues in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
