The Goaltending Blues

The St. Louis Blues have split their goaltending duties this season, with a concrete starter yet to emerge.

Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliot have almost equally shared time in net, with Halak starting 39 games and Elliot beginning 24.

Each goalie has contributed to the clubs success with St. Louis currently sitting first in the central division with 84 points.

With two goalies as potential starters, trade rumors have continued to swirl around the Blues' goaltending situation, with Halak being at the center of it all.

In his 39 starts this season, Halak has an impressive 24-8-4 record, along with a 0.915 save percentage and 2.26 goals against average.

Despite his good performance for the club, the trade talk surrounding Halak seems to continue. Allan Muir of Sports Illustrated has speculated that the Buffalo Sabres' Ryan Miller might do the trick for the Blues if he is to be traded.

Trading for Miller and his $6.25 million cap hit would require the club to depose of a lot more than just Halak. With only $396, 859 in cap space and Halak's cap hit of $3.75 million, the trade would see more players waving goodbye to the Blues.

Halak, Elliott and Miller are all set to become unrestricted free agents this summer.
