Blues sign Roy to 1-year deal

The St. Louis Blues have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent center Derek Roy to a one-year contract worth $4 million.

Roy, 30, registered seven goals and 21 assists for 28 points in 42 games with the Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks this past season.

The Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets were among the teams that also showed interest in Roy, before he chose St. Louis.

Roy's contract is pending a physical.

In 591 career NHL regular-season games with the Buffalo Sabres, Stars and Canucks, Roy has accumulated 168 goals and 287 assists for 455 points.

The Ottawa native was originally drafted by the Sabres in the second-round (32nd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
