Demers re-signs with Sharks

The San Jose Sharks have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Jason Demers to a two-year contract.

"Jason has been a solid, offensive defenseman and is coming off a good season," said Sharks GM Doug Wilson. "His skill set and his age mesh well within our overall group and we're happy to have him signed for two more years."

In 2013-14, Demers tallied five goals and 29 assists for 34 points, a plus-14 rating, and 30 penalty minutes in 75 games.

Demers, 26, has appeared in 280 career regular season NHL games, all with San Jose, registering 95 points (16 goals, 75 assists), a plus-26 rating, and 111 penalty minutes.

The native of Dorval, Quebec, was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh-round, 186th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
