Couture, Sharks agree to extension

According to a source close to negotiations, TFP has learned that the San Jose Sharks have agreed to terms on a long-term contract extension with center Logan Couture.

Couture, 24, just completed the first season of a two-year deal worth $5.75 million.

The contract is expected to be officially signed July 5.

In 48 games with the Sharks this season, Couture has accumulated 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points.

In 232 career NHL regular-season games over four seasons with the Sharks, Couture has registered 89 goals and 78 assists for 167 points.

Couture was originally drafted ninth-overall by the Sharks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
