Sharks stand pat on deadline day

The Sharks were interested in adding a few players before yesterday's trade deadline, but GM Doug Wilson opted against making a move, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

"There were a couple of players we had been talking about that we didn't know if their teams were going to move them or not, and then they decided not to," Wilson told the paper.

The Sharks had already acquired defenseman Niclas Wallin from the Carolina Hurricanes last month.

Wilson also indicated the team's lack of cap space played a factor in his decision not to pull the trigger on a trade.
