The San Jose Sharks have re-signed impending unrestricted free agent defenseman Rob Blake to a one-year contract worth around $3.5 million.

CSN Bay Area and the San Francisco Chronicle are both reporting that a deal has been reached.

Blake, 39, scored 10 goals and added 35 assists for 45 points in 73 games with the Sharks last season.

In 1,200 career NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and Sharks, Blake has accumulated 233 goals and 514 assists for 747 points, along with1,619 penalty minutes.

Blake was originally drafted by the Kings in the fourth-round (70th overall) of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.

From the Editor: This was a no-brainer for the Sharks. Blake had his best offensive season in 4 years, and he wanted to come back to help push the Sharks over the top and into the Stanley Cup Finals. -- David Pagnotta.
