The Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings are believed to be still in the hunt for Kesler, while several other teams are on the outside looking in.
According to multiple reports, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks all expressed an interest in Kesler.
However, the Canucks had informed the Leafs, Blue Jackets and Rangers that Kesler would not waive his no-trade clause to go there. The Kings and Blackhawks are also out of the mix.
As first reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Rob Rossi, the Penguins originally offered center Brandon Sutter, a pick of young defensemen Simon Despres or Brian Dumoulin, a 2014 first-round draft pick and a 2014 third-round pick in exchange for Kesler
The Penguins have since swapped out Depres and Dumoulin and included top prospect Derrick Pouliot into their package.
Trade talks are expected to continue on Wednesday, leading up to the 3pm ET deadline.
