Pens searching for depth

As much as the Penguins would like to find a replacement for Pascal Dupuis, they would also like to acquire a third-line player to add to their roster.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Penguins GM Ray Shero has been trying to upgrade his third line for some time.

Shero does not appear to be in a rush to replace Dupuis, as the team would like to give rookie Beau Bennett a shot, but he is out with an injury and the team does not expect him back for another four weeks.

With the trade deadline approaching on March 5, the Penguins' have limited time to be patient.

The Penguins have shown interest in Winnipeg Jets forwards Andrew Ladd and Blake Wheeler, though it's unclear if trade talks have entered a serious state.

It's believed the Penguins could also be eyeing Calgary Flames forwards Michael Cammalleri and Lee Stempniak, both of whom are set to become unrestricted free agents July 1.

The Tribune-Review suggests the Penguins could move Bennett to the third-line, upon his return, if they acquire a top-six forward.
