Last week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Michael Russo reported that Shero was in Minnesota scouting a game between the Wild and the Avalanche. Does Shero see something in Minnesota that he thinks would look even better in Pittsburgh?
Russo seemed to think that Shero might be looking at Devin Setoguchi or Pierre-Marc Bouchard. Both players have had rough starts this season, and perhaps it is time for one of them to try their game elsewhere.
However, CBC's Elliotte Friedman believes that Bouchard and Setoguchi aren't actually on Shero's agenda, and that the GM was actually eyeing Matt Cullen. The 36-year-old forward is in the final year of his contract at $3.5 million.
These are all just rumors, but keep in mind that Minnesota and Pittsburgh have a history. Wild GM Chuck Fletcher and head coach Mike Yeo both previously worked for the Penguins. Furthermore, the Wild have acquired former Pens like Nick Johnson, Mike Rupp and Erik Christensen.
The trade deadline isn't until April 3, so it might be awhile before we see who, if anyone, Shero has had on his mind.
