Malkin to play in KHL if there's a lockout TheFourthPeriod.com
Like many of his colleagues, superstar center Evgeni Malkin is making plans to play hockey this fall, one way or another, if an NHL lockout occurs.
Malkin has agreed to a week-to-week contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League in the event of a lockout, Magnitogorsk's GM announced earlier today.
The NHL's current Collective Bargaining Agreement is set to expire Sept. 15 and if a new deal is not in place, the season will be delayed.
Malkin's agent, J.P. Barry, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Malkin has spoken with teams in Moscow and Magnitogorsk, but that nothing has been officially finalized.
