Pens working on getting Suter?
TheFourthPeriod.com

A source has informed Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly that Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ray Shero is trying his hardest to acquire the rights of Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter.

Although the 27-year-old, who is set to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent on July 1, has mentioned his wish to remain in the Western Conference, Shero will look to put his past experience as Predators assistant GM to his advantage and try to convince Suter to move to Pittsburgh.

"Ray feels he can talk Suter into coming to Pittsburgh," the source said.

After trading two-way center Jordan Staal to the Carolina Hurricanes and defenseman Zbynek Michalek to the Phoenix Coyotes over the Draft weekend, Shero has put several millions back in available cap space to make room for Suter, and potentially for New Jersey Devils forward Zach Parise.

While Flyers GM Paul Holmgren held discussions with the Preds about Suter, the star defenseman is reportedly indifferent about coming to Philadelphia.
