Crosby recently visited Dr. Robert S. Bray, a neurological spine specialist based in Los Angeles, who diagnosed the injury.
There have been no updates of follow up examinations Crosby was to have undergone on his neck, although the star player is expected to meet with an independent specialist to seek a second opinion on his results.
As per the Penguins' website, there is still no timetable on his return to game action.
Crosby has not played since the Penguins' game against the Boston Bruins on Dec. 5, after which it was reported that he was suffering from concussion-related symptoms. He missed nearly 11 months from last January to November due to a concussion that was caused by a pair of hits in back-to-back contests.
