The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired veteran defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2010 second-round draft pick.

Leopold, 29, registered seven goals, 11 assists and 22 penalty minutes in 61 games with the Panthers this season. The Panthers originally acquired Leopold from the Calgary Flames on Jun. 27, 2009, along with a 2009 third-round pick, for the rights to defenseman Jay Bouwmeester.

In 416 career NHL games with Calgary, Colorado and Florida, Leopold has accumulated 36 goals and 91 assists for 127 points to go along with 184 penalty minutes.

The native of Golden Valley, MN, was originally drafted by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim the second-round (44th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
