Hossa not thinking about contract TheFourthPeriod.com
Marian Hossa, acquired Tuesday from Atlanta, is excited to join the Penguins but isn't interested in talking about his contract status, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Hossa, who is making $7 million this year, can become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He acknowledged that money won't necessarily be the only factor that determines where he'll play next season.
"It's not strictly money, but to tell you the truth, right now, I'm not even thinking about it," Hossa told the Post-Gazette. "Right now, my main focus for these [first] few days is on my game and helping the team.
"After I see if I fit on this hockey club, then we can think about the future, talk about the contract."
Hossa's agent, Ritch Winter, told TFP's David Pagnotta it's too early to be thinking about a new contract.
