Penguins acquire Hossa, Dupuis from Thrashers

  Swooping in at the last minute with a huge offer, the Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Marian Hossa sweepstakes, beating out the Montreal Canadiens in the final hour.

The Penguins traded forwards Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito, and a first-round pick in the 2008 Entry Draft to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Hossa and right wing Pascal Dupuis.

Hossa, 29, is in his 10th NHL season and has recorded 26 goals and 30 assists in 60 games with Atlanta this season.

   
He has compiled 638 points (296 goals, 342 assists) in 689 career games.

Hossa, can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, was originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round (12th overall) of the 1997 Entry Draft, which took place in Pittsburgh.

Dupuis, 28, is in his seventh NHL season and has registered 15 points (10 goals, five assists) in 62 games for Atlanta this season. He has totaled 81 goals and 81 assists in 419 career games split between Atlanta, Minnesota, and the New York Rangers.

Armstrong was originally selected by the Penguins in the first round (21st overall) of the 2001 Entry Draft. He has scored 98 points (37 goals, 61 assists) in 181 career games with the Penguins.

Christensen was originally selected by the Penguins in the third round (69th overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft. He has totaled 66 points (33 goals, 33 assists) in 143 games with the Penguins.

Esposito was selected by the Penguins in the first round (20th overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft. He currently has 55 points (26 goals, 29 assists) in 48 games for the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
