Coyotes have management hole to fill

There is plenty of interest in the Coyotes' vacant Assistant GM position, but GM Don Maloney will take his time before making any decisions.

Former Assistant GM Brad Treliving left the organization on Monday to become the GM of the Calgary Flames, leaving an opening in Phoenix.

Maloney told the Coyotes' website that roughly 24 people have expressed an interest.

"I don't feel any urgency to fill the position immediately," Maloney said. "We have some very good people internally whose roles will be expanded... In the meantime, I'm mulling over what we really need for that position to move forward."

Maloney indicated that it may take more than one person to fill the hole left by Treliving's departure, but remains confident he'll find the right person(s).

Coyotes Assistant to the GM and goalie coach Sean Burke has expressed an interest in having a bigger role with the club and Maloney said that "his role with us will have to be discussed in the weeks ahead."
