"It's really no different than any day," Maloney told the Republic. "We look to get better every day."
Maloney has admitted to having trade talks with some of his counterparts, and told the paper deals could start happening fairly soon around the NHL.
"The good thing for us is they're asking about our players and would you do this, would you look at that, would you think of this, and I'm like, 'Absolutely, if that makes us better,'" Maloney said.
The Coyotes acquired defenseman Zbynek Michalek in the summer, replacing free agent Adrian Aucoin, who signed with Columbus, and signed veteran forward Steve Sullivan, but lost Ryan Whitney to Dallas.
Maloney will have more flexibility when the team's ownership change becomes official. Greg Jamison has until Jan. 31 to close the purchase of the team.
