New Glendale mayor warns Coyotes
TheFourthPeriod.com

Good news for the Phoenix Coyotes as Glendale taxpayers have endorsed a sales tax increase on Wednesday.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, a solid majority of Glendale residents voted to reject a ballot measure that would undo a city sales-tax hike.

If the tax hike had been voted down, it would have been close to impossible for prospective Coyotes owner Greg Jamison to purchase the team as the proceeds from the tax hike are believed to fund part of the proposed arena management deal.

However, new mayor Jerry Weiers, a Republican, has been standing against both the lease agreement and tax hike.

Weiers sent a strong message on Tuesday night, stating to the Coyotes: "Glendale is not your cash register."

Back in July, Weiers reportedly wrote a letter to Jamison, requesting he prove he has the resources to buy the team.

Jamison is expected to travel to Glendale this week in an attempt to finalize the lease agreement.
