The Phoenix Coyotes have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent right wing Lee Stempniak on a two-year, $3.5 million contract, TFP has learned.
Stempniak, who was traded to the Coyotes from the Toronto Maple Leafs last season on Mar. 3, scored 28 goals and added 20 assists in 80 games in 2009-10.
The Buffalo native will earn an average of $1.75 million per season. In 374 career NHL regular-season games with St. Louis, Toronto and Phoenix, Stempniak has accumulated 96 goals and 113 assists for 209 points.
Stempniak, 27, was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The Coyotes will officially announce the signing on Monday.
