The Phoenix Coyotes have signed unrestricted free agent center Robert Lang to a one-year contract.

"We are very pleased to have signed Robert Lang," said Coyotes GM Don Maloney. "He provides another veteran presence for our team and is a proven scorer in the National Hockey League."

Lang, 38, registered 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 points in 50 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season.

A 15-year veteran, Lang has appeared in 925 career NHL games with Los Angeles, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit, Chicago and Montreal, and has accumulated 252 goals and 422 assists for 674 points to go along with 394 penalty minutes.

A native of Teplice, Czech Republic, Lang was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the seventh round (133rd overall) of the 1990 Entry Draft and made his NHL debut with the Kings during the 1992-93 season.
