Coyotes looking for defenseman

TheFourthPeriod.com

According to the Arizona Republic, the Phoenix Coyotes will be looking to add a defenseman or two via free agency.

The paper suggests the team could have pursued John-Michael Liles, but he has already re-signed with the Colorado Avalanche.

Other potential targets include Wade Redden, Michal Roszival, Mark Streit, Ron Hainsey and Dmitri Kalinin.

Meanwhile, the Republic also reports Coyotes GM Don Maloney remains in contact with the agent for unrestricted free-agent forward Radim Vrbata.

While it's possible Vrbata could return to Phoenix next season, he is expected to field offers from other teams later today.

If the Coyotes cannot re-sign Vrbata, they will look to replace him through free agency.
