Coyotes, Vrbata discussing extension TheFourthPeriod.com
Contract negotiations between the Phoenix Coyotes and winger Radim Vrbata are ongoing, reports the Arizona Republic.
Rumors claiming Vrbata is asking for $4 million to $5 million a year made Vrbata chuckle.
"We never set an exact number on what we wanted during the talks," he told the Republic. "We never said that. All we said is we would like a longer term, preferably three years, that's the only subject we were set on.
"The talks never got to that (salary) point. I saw some rumors, they were like four, five million, we never set an exact number, so it's not true. All we said was we wanted a longer-term agreement to be three years, and that's about it."
Vrbata mentioned that he and Coyotes GM Don Maloney will meet after the trade deadline to continue contract talks.
