In 271 career regular-season games behind Philly's bench, Laviolette compiled a 145-76-29 record, including a 0-3-0 record to start this season.
He spent parts of five seasons as head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes (2003-04 to 2008-09), where he compiled a 167-122-34 record in 323 games, and in the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs, Laviolette guided Carolina to a Stanley Cup Championship.
Berube, 47, joined the Flyers as a full-time assistant coach in 2008-09. He was head coach of the club's AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, in 2006-07 and posted a 49-29-1-7 record in 86 games.
In 1,054 career NHL regular-season games as a player with the Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders, Berube accumulated 61 goals and 98 assists for 159 points, along with 3,149 penalty minutes.
The Flyers also named Ian Laperriere and John Paddock assistant coaches.
