TheFourthPeriod.com

Veteran defenseman Kurtis Foster, who spent this past season with the Philadelphia Flyers, has signed with Medvescak Zagreb of the KHL.

Foster, 31, registered one goal and four assists for five points, along with 25 penalty minutes, in 23 games with the Flyers in 2012-13.

Medvescak GM Aaron Fox expects Foster to be the club's "top defender."

Foster, who will head to Croatia next week, has played in 405 career NHL regular-season games with the Atlanta Thrashers, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, New Jersey Devils and Flyers, and has accumulated 42 goals and 118 assists for 160 points, along with 308 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the second-round (40th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
