Flyers sign goaltender Emery

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed unrestricted free agent goalie Ray Emery to a one-year, $1.65 million contract.

Emery, 30, earned $1.15 million this past season with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he posted a 17-1-0 record with a 1.94 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage.

In 228 career NHL regular-season games with the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks and Blackhawks, Emery has registered a 126-63-19 record with a 2.63 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage.

Emery did hold negotiations with the Blackhawks earlier in the week and it was originally believed he'd re-sign with the club, but the Flyers' opportunity for more ice time appeared too good to pass up.

He was originally drafted by the Senators in the fourth-round (99th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
