Briere could miss start of season
TheFourthPeriod.com

Flyers forward Danny Briere is expected to miss the start of the new 2013 season, according to CSNPhilly.com, as a result of an injured left wrist.

Briere will be examined by team doctors once the CBA is ratified and the lockout officially ends this weekend.

"I haven't skated for the last 10 days because of the wrist injury," Briere told CSNPhilly.com. "I really believe when I am ready to play, I won't be too far behind having a chance to stay in shape. Playing real hockey and competitive games for three months has put me in hockey shape. Missing maybe (a week of the season), I should be OK."

Briere had been playing for Berlin of the German Elite League (Deutsche Eishockey Liga) since October and sprained his left wrist two weeks ago.

"Things happen anywhere," he added. "It had to happen on the last game over there. Bad luck I guess, but it could have been worse. Guys are missing a whole year or a month or two."
