More defensemen on the market
TheFourthPeriod.com

Philadelphia Flyers blueliner Matt Carle and Florida Panthers defenseman Jason Garrison are expected to be added to the pool of defensemen testing the open market on July 1.

According to the hockey experts of TSN Insider Trading, both rearguards are looking to command a $5 million annual cap hit for the upcoming seasons, and they might only earn that much on the free-agent market.

While Carle is still keeping in touch with the Flyers, he might test the market to see if he can find his desired value with another team.

In 82 games with the Flyers this past season, Carle collected four goals and 34 assists for 38 points.

As for Garrison, he is reportedly no closer to signing an extension with the Panthers, who could decide to trade his rights before Sunday if they can’t reach an agreement with him.

In 77 games with the Panthers last season, Garrison tallied 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points.
