Couturier injured in Game 3 vs. Devils
TheFourthPeriod.com

Philadelphia Flyers rookie forward Sean Couturier sustained a lower-body injury during the first period of Thursday night's 4-3 overtime loss against the New Jersey Devils.

The 19-year-old appeared to get tangled with Devils forward David Clarkson along the wall. Couturier immediately skated to the Flyers' bench, unable to put weight on his left skate. He did not return to the contest.

Speculation first suggested that the injury was a cut, but the statement from the Flyers did not specify the nature of the injury.

After the game, RDS' Renaud Lavoie reported that the young center "should be OK" and a doctor will re-evaluate him on Friday.

Couturier has recorded three goals and an assist for four points in nine playoff games and was given credit for shutting down Art Ross Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the playoffs.
