The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed goaltender Michael Leighton to a two-year contract worth $3.1 million.

Leighton, 29, helped the Flyers reach the Stanley Cup Final, only to fall to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.

In 34 regular-season games with the Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes, Leighton posted a 17-9-2 record with a 2.83 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage.

The native of Petrolia, Ontario, was originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round, 165th overall, of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
