According to several reports, the Philadelphia Flyers are closing in on a trade with a Western Conference team.
The Philadelphia Daily News and the Camden Courier-Post both report a deal is near, with all signs pointing to the Nashville Predators and defenseman Dan Hamhuis.
Hamhuis is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
The Flyers and Predators have spoken at length about Hamhuis and goalie Dan Ellis.
Citing a league source, the Daily News claims the trade with the Predators is pending Riley Cote and Dany Syvret's waiver status.
Cote and Syvret were placed on waivers yesterday and can be claimed as of noon Et today.
According to the Daily News, the Predators are interested in Flyers defensemen Ryan Parent and Braydon Coburn.
The Courier-Post suggests a deal for a goaltender may be unlikely, though Ellis is certainly available for trade after the Predators signed Pekka Rinne to a two-year contract extension.
Meanwhile, the Daily News reports the Flyers are also interested in Atlanta's Colby Armstrong and Columbus' Raffi Torres, while the Courier-Post claims the Flyers are eyeing Carolina's Ray Whitney and Florida's Dennis Seidenberg.
