Brendan Shanahan wants to play in the NHL this season and it appears the Philadelphia Flyers are one of the teams knocking on his door.
According to one source close to the situation, the Flyers have made it known that they would be interested in signing Shanahan if he decides he's committed to playing this season.
Shanahan, who has spent 21 years in the NHL, signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Devils in August, but was cut by New Jersey on Sept. 30 after he was unable to secure a significant role on the team.
The Ottawa Sun is also reporting that the Flyers are interested in Shanahan, along with the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Shanahan in a Flyers uniform in the near future. He wants to stay close to his family (they reside in New York) and Philadelphia isn't that far away. The Flyers have shown an interest in Shanny before. -- David Pagnotta
