The Philadelphia Flyers have locked up veteran defenseman Chris Pronger to a seven-year, $35 million contract extension.

Pronger, 34, had one-year remaining on his current deal. He was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks, along with forward Ryan Dingle in exchange for winger Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Luca Sbisa, two first-round draft picks and a conditional third-round pick in 2010 or 2011.

In 82 games with the Ducks last season, Pronger registered 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points.

The native of Dryden, Ontario has accumulated 142 goals and 464 assists for 606 points, with 1,457 penalty minutes, in 1,022 career NHL games with the Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers and Ducks.

He was originally drafted second-overall by the Whalers in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
