Flyers, Coyotes complete trade

The Philadelphia Flyers have traded forward Scottie Upshall and a second-round draft pick to the Phoenix Coyotes for forward Daniel Carcillo.

Upshall, 25, has registered six goals and 14 assists in 54 games with the Flyers this season.

Upshall was drafted sixth-overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Carcillo, 24, has notched three goals, seven assists and 174 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Coyotes this season.

Carcillo was drafted in the third-round, 73rd overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Flyers have also acquired defenseman Kyle McLaren from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a sixth round draft pick in 2009.

McLaren, 31, has six assists and 17 penalty minutes in 17 games with San Jose's American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester Sharks this season.

In 719 career NHL games with San Jose and the Boston Bruins over 12 seasons (1995-96 to 2007-08), McLaren has 46 goals and 161 assists for 207 points and 671 penalty minutes.

McLaren has been assigned to the Flyers' AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.
