Flyers getting calls about Calder

TheFourthPeriod.com

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren told the Philadelphia Inquirer he has received calls on underachieving winger Kyle Calder.

Holmgren, who admitted not having serious interest in the calls at this point, is hoping Calder will turn his season around.

"We're sort of hoping Kyle Calder will come around and get better," Holmgren said. "Kyle Calder was a real good player last year," Holmgren told the Inquirer. "Why this happened this year, I have no idea. We're trying to get to the bottom of it and make him better."

Calder, 27, has only three assists in 24 games with the Flyers this season.

Meanwhile, Holmgren said the Flyers considered claiming John LeClair off of re-entry waivers but had decided against it.

"I know John is a good guy," Holmgren said. "But I think at the end of the day we felt we would be taking a step back and taking someone's ice time who has a chance to get better... . I didn't think he was a guy who would really help us right now."
