Sens playing waiting game
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Ottawa Senators aren't going to rush trading center Jason Spezza, primarily because they know the market is about to turn in their favor as early as noon ET on Tuesday.

Several teams are interested in Spezza, but those clubs are also pursuing free agent centermen. Failing to sign one will result in Spezza being at the top of their wish list.

Sens GM Bryan Murray is waiting for the calls to start pouring in, if they haven't already, for Spezza, whom, despite words to the contrary from Ottawa management, definitely won't be back with the Senators next season, multiple sources have told TFP.

Spezza will be moved this off-season, as early as this week, one league source reiterated to TFP.

As the Senators wait by the phones for Spezza, they're also trying to re-sign free agent sniper Milan Michalek.

However, barring a last minute significant offer, Michalek will test the free agent waters on Tuesday.

The Senators are not expected to pursue any of the big name free agents this summer, but will look to fill some holes created by the loss of right wing Ales Hemsky and potentially Michalek.
