With that in mind, Sens GM Bryan Murray isn't shying away from admitting he's ready to make a deal to improve his clubs offensive game.
Murray confirmed to Sportsnet's Hockey Central that a winger is a top priority, likely someone who would pair well with captain Jason Spezza.
"I'd like to find another forward at least send a message to our team that management and coaches are trying to help," said Murray.
Despite his wishes, Murray stated that it's hard to find the right deal at this point in time and may have to wait until the March 5 trade deadline to find the deal he's looking for.
"Today, the prices may be higher than they will be on the actual deadline day when the competition for the guy isn't quite the same," said Murray. "There are so many teams so close together here we're hesitant to make a move that isn't the right move."
The Senators are currently 26-21-11 on the season.
