Whether they make a move before the roster freeze, though, remains to be seen.
"I think we have to see where we are, and how we are, before (the Olympic break)," Senators assistant GM Pierre Dorion told the Ottawa Sun.
"We obviously think that we're a good team. The way that we've been playing, especially in the last month, it shows that we can get in playoffs and maybe surprise a team in the playoffs."
The Senators held a scouting meeting in Ft. Lauderdale this past week, and outlined some "possible targets for possible trades," Dorion said.
The Sun suggests making a move before the Olympic break might help the team, in terms of getting that play acclimated to his new surroundings, but it's no guarantee.
"It can be good in some ways. We have to wait to see where we are the Olympic break," Dorion said. "You have to wait to see where are at the trade deadline and that will dictate a lot of what happens in the future."
