Wiercioch signs 3-year contract

The Ottawa Senators have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Patrick Wiercioch to a three-year contract.

Wiercioch, 22, appeared in 42 regular-season games in 2012-13, registering a career high with 19 points (five goals, 14 assists), a plus-nine rating and 39 penalty minutes.

A native of Burnaby, B.C., Wiercioch was Ottawa's second-round selection (42nd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

In 50 career NHL games, Wiercioch has recorded 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) and 43 penalty minutes.
