Alfredsson nearing his decision

The Senators should know of captain Daniel Alfredsson's decision to continue playing or retire by the end of the week, according to a report.

Senators GM Bryan Murray told Ottawa Sun beat reporter Bruce Garrioch that he will have an answer by Friday.

Murray also added that he feels Alfredsson will return next season.

Alfredsson, 40, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 5, but if he returns, he'll sign a one-year deal with the club worth around $4 million to $4.5 million.

In 47 games with the Sens last season, Alfredsson has registered 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points. He won the Mark Messier Leadership Award on Friday.
