"Honestly, I don't know where it's going," he told the Sun. "And I haven't heard anything that would suggest there's any plans to talk or negotiate right now, so right now it's just a deadlock.
"As far as if there's a time limit to get something done, I don't know. I think the league has a plan, and they're following that."
If the full season is lost, Alfredsson could have played his last NHL game last season and not even realized it.
For the time being, Alfredsson is spending time training, being with his family, and getting an early sense of retirement.
"You want to stay involved (with what's happening in CBA negotiations), but my life goes on, there's no question," he said. "I've really enjoyed the amount of time I've been able to spend with the family, so it hasn’t been all bad."
