Karlsson's contract with Jokerit runs out
TheFourthPeriod.com

If Senators All-Star defenseman Erik Karlsson wants to keep playing for Jokerit of the SM-Liiga in Finland, he's going to have to renew his contract with the club.

Karlsson signed a one-month contract with Jokerit and with the uncertainty over the start of the NHL season still in the air, he could sign another one-month deal with the team.

"We have to make a decision today, and I'm talking about the matter with my agent. We want to know (the future) and so does Jokekit," Karlsson told Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat.

Karlsson is expected to continue playing for Jokerit for the time being, though he did hit to returning to Ottawa.

Karlsson is one of eight Senators players playing overseas during the NHL lockout. Forward Colin Greening just signed with the Aalborg Pirates of the AL-Bank Ligaen in Denmark yesterday.
