Sens can shift attention elsewhere
TheFourthPeriod.com

Unable to acquire Rick Nash, the Ottawa Sun reports that the Senators can now focus on a new direction and use their assets to make a deal for another top-line scorer.

While Senators GM Bryan Murray had offered netminder Robin Lehner, forward Nick Foligno, top prospect Mika Zibanejad along with a draft pick, Nash's list did not include any Canadian team.

Murray keeps looking for a top-six forward as he waits for captain Daniel Alfredsson's decision to either return next season or retire, and trading for one appears to be the most likely scenario.

Though sniper Alexander Semin remains readily available on the open market, the Sens are reportedly focusing on talks with the Anaheim Ducks for right wing Bobby Ryan, who has been on the trade block for the past several weeks.

However, the Ducks appears to be asking for a hefty return for the young winger and the Senators remain unenthusiastic in moving Zibanejad to just any team.

Murray could also investigate the possibility of landing Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow, who appears to have lost his spot on the top two lines to newcomer veteran forwards Ray Whitney and Jaromir Jagr.

As the Senators focus on retooling their roster, the club still has available cap room for a player that can fit in the lineup, while having the ability to make a trade to boost their offense.
