Kuba talks but could still walk
TheFourthPeriod.com

Although signs are pointing to the Senators and Filip Kuba parting ways, GM Bryan Murray told ESPN.com that management is still trying to work out a deal to bring him back next season.

The 35-year-old defenseman is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and could be left behind to guarantee that the Sens have significant salary space to offer star defenseman Erik Karlsson.

"We're interested in keeping him, but obviously it has to make sense for us financially," Murray said.

Kuba earned a $3.7 million salary last season and the Senators are most likely looking to decrease that number next year.

While Murray is hoping to keep in touch with Kuba to make a decision on his future, the GM is likely to put most of his attention on Karlsson, who can become a restricted free agent July 1.
