With their roster pretty much in tact for the upcoming season, the Senators may still fiddle with their lineup before opening night, according to the Ottawa Sun.
The Senators have roughly $57.5 million committed to 22 players, as well as the dollars going to the buyouts of Ray Emery and Jonathan Cheechoo, leaving the team with about $1.9 million in available cap space.
The Sun suggests the Senators could tinker with their blueline and could pursue Brendan Witt or Willie Mitchell, both of whom are still unrestricted free agents and would add grit to the roster.
If GM Bryan Murray decides to make a move up front, the paper hints forward Ryan Shannon may be expendable.
